How to Show Up in Local Search Results on MSN Local

If you want to appear in search results that are specific to your area, then you should list your organization with Microsoft's local search engine, MSN Local. Although it’s the new kid on the block, this scrappy underdog is worth the effort it takes to sign up. Follow this step-by-step list to get into the local results on MSN and capture a new market:

  1. Go to https://llc.local.live.com/ListingCenter.aspx and click Add Listing.

  2. Enter your business information in their first form to check if your listing already exists.

If you find your listing, then you’re done. If you don’t find your listing, proceed to Step 3.

  3. Sign in to your Windows Live ID account.

You can sign up if you don’t have one.

  4. Complete the online forms per their instructions and submit your listing.

  5. Choose the most appropriate categories.

  6. Wait two or three weeks for verification via postal mail.
