How to Share Information from Your Windows 8 Tablet

Computers, including your Windows 8 tablet, excel at sharing information. There’s little point in creating something unless you want somebody else to see it. That’s where the Charms bar’s Share icon comes in.

When you’re viewing something you want to share, fetch the Charms bar with a swipe of your finger inward along the tablet’s right edge.

When the Charms bar appears, tap the Share icon. The Share pane appears, listing different ways you can share what you’re seeing. You’ll almost always see one universal sharing mechanism: the Mail app. Choose that to e-mail what you’re seeing to a friend.

Choose the Share icon while viewing a website, for example, to e-mail its link to a friend.

Not all apps support the Share command. If an app doesn’t support it, there’s no way to share that app’s contents. Worst of all, the Windows desktop doesn’t support the Charms bar’s Share command.
