How to Set Up a WordPress.com Static Page

1

Log in to your WordPress.com account.

Your main WordPress.com page appears.

2

On your Administration panel, select the Pages menu, and then click the Add New link.

The Add New Page page appears, where you can compose your static page.

3

Type the title of your page in the Title text box, and type the body of your page in the Page text box.

You can use the Virtual Text Editor and insert media files, if you want.

4

Click the white arrow to the left of Discussion and make a selection from the drop-down list.

By default, the Allow Comments and Allow Pings boxes are selected. Deselect them if you don't want to allow comments or pings.

5

Click the Parent arrow and select an option from the drop-down list.

Select the page parent if you want to make the static page a subpage of another page you’ve created.

6

Click the Template arrow and select the template you want to use from the drop-down list.

This option works only if the WordPress.com theme you're using has page templates available.

7

Click the Order arrow and enter a number in the text box that reflects the order in which you want this page to appear on your site.

If you want this page to be the third page listed, for example, enter 3.

8

Click the Page Author arrow and select the author of this blog from the drop-down list.

You don't need to perform this step if you're the only author of this blog.

9

Scroll back to the top of the page and choose options from the Publish Status drop-down list.

You can select Status, and then Pending Review or Draft; Visibility, and then Public or Password Protected; or Publish Immediately.

10

Click OK when you finish.

WordPress.com saves your settings.

11

Click the Save or Publish button.

WordPress.com saves your work.
