How to Set the Screen Lock Delay for Your Nexus 7 Tablet
The lock screen shows up right away whenever you unlock your Nexus 7 tablet. It also shows up after a sleep time-out, or period of inactivity. When that happens, the touchscreen automatically turns off, and the tablet locks. You can control the time-out delay for the screen lock as well as whether the tablet locks automatically when you press the Power Lock key.
To see the screen lock time-out delay, get to the Security screen: Open the Settings app and choose the Security category. Choose the option Automatically Lock to set how long the touchscreen waits to lock after the Nexus 7 has a sleep time-out.
The tablet comes preconfigured with a 5-second delay: If you press the Power Lock key within 5 seconds after a sleep time-out, the lock screen doesn’t appear. The value can be adjusted from 0 to 30 minutes.
The Nexus 7 is configured to immediately lock the screen whenever the Power Lock key is pressed. To change this option, remove the check mark by the item Power Button Instantly Locks, also found in the Screen Security window. With this option off, the tablet uses the sleep time-out value to specify when the lock screen kicks in.
