How to Search the Windows Store from within Windows 8.1

You can search the Windows Store using the Windows 8.1 Search box in the upper right corner, and/or by taking advantage of built-in categories. Here’s how:

  1. Inside the Windows Store, type something into the Search box in the upper right corner.

Here, news has been typed in the Search box.

It isn’t clear why you have to run a search in order to get the category choices shown, but that’s the way it works.

  2. Choose from Categories (listed in the figure), Price (Free, Free and Trial, Paid), and/or Relevance (sort by newest, highest rating, lowest price, highest price).

In the following figure, you might be surprised (but maybe not) to find that the most relevant paid games in the Windows Store are all from Microsoft Xbox.
