How to Record Video in Facebook

Facebook gives you a way to share photos and videos with family and friends. If you have a Webcam either built in or attached to your computer, you can upload videos straight to Facebook. To record video, follow these steps:

1

Choose Video in your bottom left-hand Applications menu.

If Video doesn’t appear in your left-hand Applications menu, go to the Application Directory (click Edit next to the Apps menu) and find Video on any of the drop-down menus. Click on Edit Settings and bookmark it to appear on your Applications menu.

2

Click the Record button in the upper right of the Video page.

The first time you record from your Webcam you may see a screen asking for permission to allow Facebook to access your Webcam; if this occurs, click Allow or Remember if you don’t want this screen to appear again. Your Webcam activates and the current input shows on the screen in front of you. Note that this is not yet recording.

3

Click the red button in the middle of the screen to start recording.

Click the square stop button when you’re done. Your recording can be up to 20 minutes in length.

4

Watch the preview of the clip to make sure you’re happy with it.

Click on the Play button below the video screen. If it’s not quite what you’re looking for, click Reset and you can re-record.

5

Click Save when you’re ready to continue.

The next screen (similar to the one shown here) involves video editing. When you’re done, click Save again and it will post to your Video box on your profile. It may also appear on your friends’ News Feeds.
