How to Read E-Mail Attachments on Your iPhone
You can read e-mail attachments in a wide variety of file formats on your iPhone. Your iPhone can read several types of attachments, including the following file formats:
Images: .jpg, .tiff, .gif
Microsoft Word: .doc and .docx
Microsoft PowerPoint: .ppt and .pptx
Microsoft Excel: .xls and .xlsx
Web pages: .htm and .html
Apple Keynote: .key
Apple Numbers: .numbers
Apple Pages: .pages
Preview and Adobe Acrobat: .pdf
Contact information: .vcf
If the attachment is a file format not supported by the iPhone (for example, a Photoshop .psd file), you’ll see the name of the file but you won’t be able to open it on your iPhone.
Here’s how to read an attachment:
Open the mail message containing the attachment.
Tap the attachment (it appears at the bottom of the message, so you’ll probably need to scroll down to see it).View text from a Microsoft Word attachment.
The attachment downloads to your iPhone and opens automatically.
Read the attachment.
Tap the Message button in the upper-left corner of the screen to return to the message text.
