  • Read silently first.

  • Note surprises and unfamiliar words.

  • Establish a positive, conversational tone.

  • Follow the music.

  • Don't rush.

  • Pause for emphasis.

  • Treat line endings with care, pausing briefly or raising your tone of voice.
