How to Promote Your Etsy Shop on Facebook

With more than a half-billion members, Facebook is a great place to promote your Etsy shop. In fact, Facebook supports a special Etsy app, called My Etsy, for just that purpose. When you install My Etsy on your Facebook page, users who "Like" your page will see news about your Etsy shop in their own Facebook News Feed.

Before you can use My Etsy, you must create a Facebook page — not profile — for your Etsy shop. The My Etsy app works only on Facebook pages designed for businesses, not on the personal profile you probably maintain to keep up with friends. For help with creating a Facebook page, see Facebook's help info.

After you've created a Facebook page for your business, log in to your Etsy account and follow these steps:

  1. Click the Your Account link along the top of any Etsy page.

    The Your Account page opens.

  2. Click the Facebook link, under Promote, on the left side of the page.

Etsy directs you to a Facebook page that explains what the My Etsy application does.

  3. Click Add to My Page.

Facebook requests your permission to proceed.

  4. Click Allow.

The Add My Etsy page opens.

  5. Click the Add My Etsy button.

Facebook adds a My Etsy tab to your Facebook page.

  6. Click the My Etsy tab.

The My Etsy for Facebook page opens.

  7. Type your Etsy user name in the Enter Your Etsy User Name field and click the Submit button.

  8. To share your favorite items and shops on your My Etsy tab, click the Yes option button.

  9. Click the Create My Etsy Tab button.

The My Etsy tab displays your Etsy shop listings.

Twitter is another great tool for promoting your Etsy shop. For example, you can use Twitter to share a quote from a happy customer, promote upcoming sales, or announce that you've posted new items in your shop. If you do use Twitter, just be sure you mix your promotional tweets with ones that aren't overtly geared toward generating sales. Otherwise, you'll find yourself with few followers!
