How to Print a Web Page in Internet Explorer

If you know how to print a Web page in Internet Explorer, you can do everything from printing directions and maps to printing out research and study materials. When you're using Internet Explorer (and almost any other browser), you'll be able to access all of your installed printers or even print the Web page to a file that you can archive for future use.

  1. Once you've located a Web page you want to print, look for and click a Print or Display a Print Version link and follow the instructions.

Many Web sites that specialize in information that people like to print include a links to separate print-ready copies of their pages. Print-ready copies usually dispense with extraneous images and advertisements and are designed to fit better on a piece of paper, so it's always the preferred choice.

  2. If the page doesn’t include a link for printing, click the Print button on the IE toolbar.

  3. In the resulting Print dialog box, select your printer and select any options desired.

The available options might differ from printer to printer but generally include:

    • In the Print Range area, decide how much of the document you want to print (All or Selection).

Note that choosing Current Page or entering page numbers in the Pages text box of the Print dialog box doesn’t mean much when you're printing a Web page — the whole page will generally print because Web pages aren’t divided into pages the way word processing documents are.

    • Click the up arrow in the Number of Copies text box to print multiple copies.

    • Click the Collate check box, if you want multiple copies collated.

  4. When you adjust all settings, click Print.
