How to Organize Music on Your Nexus 7 Tablet
The Play Music app on your Nexus 7 tablet categorizes your music by album, artist, and so forth, but unless you have only one album and enjoy all the songs on it, that configuration probably won’t do. To better organize your music, you can create playlists. That way, you can hear the music you want to hear, in the order you want, for whatever mood hits you.
How to review your playlists
To view any playlists that you’ve already created or that have been preset on the tablet, display the Play Music app’s sidebar and choose Playlists.
To see which songs are in a playlist, touch a playlist icon. To play the songs in the playlist, touch the first song in the list.
How to create your own playlists
Making a new playlist is easy, and adding songs to the playlist is even easier. Follow these steps:
Touch the Menu icon by an album or song.
Choose the command Add to Playlist.
Touch an existing playlist to add the song to that list, or choose New Playlist.
If you choose New Playlist, type a name for the playlist and touch the OK button.
The song is added to the playlist.
To add more songs, repeat Steps 1 through 3, choosing an existing playlist in Step 3.
You can have as many playlists as you like on the Nexus 7 and stick as many songs as you like into them. Adding songs to a playlist doesn’t noticeably affect the tablet’s storage capacity.
To remove a song from a playlist, open the playlist and touch the menu icon by the song. Choose the Remove from Playlist command.
Removing a song from a playlist doesn’t delete the song from the Nexus 7’s music library.
To delete a playlist, touch the menu icon in the playlist icon’s lower-right corner. Choose the Delete command. Touch OK to confirm.
How to remove unwanted music
Depending on the source, you have two ways to deal with unwanted music on your Nexus 7.
The first way is to visit Google Play on the Internet at Google Play Music. Click the menu icon by a song and choose the Delete command. Click the Delete Song button to confirm.
The steps for removing music stored directly on the Nexus 7 are similar: Touch the menu icon by a song and choose the Delete command. Touch the OK button to confirm.
When you don’t see the Delete command on the Nexus 7, the song cannot be removed locally. Visit Google Play on the Internet to remove the song.
There’s no way to recover a song you delete on the Nexus 7.
Removing music stored on the tablet occupies the Nexus 7’s internal storage.
