How to Optimize Twitter Images for Visual Social Marketing

When your Twitter followers visit your page, they will see header and background images. You want to optimize these for visual social marketing effectiveness. Here are some of the best practices and optimization tips for header and background images.

To navigate to the place to change images, follow these steps:

  1. Click the gear icon in the upper-right corner.

  2. From the drop-down list, click the Settings option.

How to change your Twitter header image

To change the header image, follow these steps:

  1. Click the Profile button on the left navigation option.

When you click Profile, the profile editing options appear.

  2. Click the Change Header button.

A window pops up where you can select a header image from your computer. After you find the image you want to use, click the Open button. In the screen that appears, you can customize the image display.

  3. Position and size the header image using the interactive screen.

This screen shows you how the header image will look in your profile. Move the header image by dragging it with the cursor to change the positioning. To change the size, use the slider bar at the bottom of the screen.

  4. Click the Apply button.

The changes are saved to your profile.

  5. Click the blue Save Changes button at the bottom of the screen.

    Enjoy your new header image.

How to change your Twitter background image

To change the background image, follow these steps:

  1. Click the Design button on the left navigation option.

After you click it, the design editing options appear.

  2. To use a premade theme, click on the theme picture at the top of the screen.

A premade theme customizes the background image and applies a matching color scheme to the profile.

  3. Click the Change Background button.

This step opens a pop-up window that lets you choose an image from your computer to use as a background image. Select the image and click the Open button.

  4. Select the Tile Background button if you want to tile the background.

In a tiled background, the background image is repeated. If the image isn't tiled (because you didn't select the Tile Background check box), the image is displayed only once.

  5. Select the background position.

You can choose between Left, Center, and Right. The background determines where the image is anchored to on the screen.

  6. Click the blue Save Changes button at the bottom of the screen.

The new background image is all set to go.

How to change your Twitter color scheme

To change the color scheme, follow these steps:

  1. Click the Design button on the left navigation option.

After you click Design, the design editing options appear. Scroll down toward the bottom of the screen to view the color editing options.

  2. Click the color box to change the colors.

To change the colors of the background and links, click the color that's displayed in the box. A color selection tool pops up that lets you choose the color you want to use.

  3. Enter the 6-digit HTML color number.

If you know the precise color you want to use, enter the 6-digit HTML color code in the box to the right of the color display box.

  4. Click the selector box to choose a black or white overlay.

The overlay color is the color that's displayed over the center of the Twitter profile. It essentially creates a box around the content in the center of the profile. Choose between a black or white overlay.

  5. Click the blue Save Changes button at the bottom of the screen.

    This step saves your changes.
