How to Export Notes in OneNote 2013
The command known as Save As in most other apps is called export in OneNote 2013. This command allows you to save a file under a different name or location.
Click or tap the File tab and select Export.
The Export Current pane appears at right.
If using a keyboard and mouse, you can Ctrl+click multiple pages to export multiple pages in the same file.
Select Page, Section, or Notebook, choose the format you want for exporting, and click or tap the Export button.
The Save As window appears, indicating that the concept of saving versus exporting hasn’t quite made it to all interface elements yet.
When exporting a whole notebook, you have three choices for the format you want to export to:
OneNote package file: This format uses the .onepkg file extension.
Portable Document Format: This ubiquitous format uses the .pdf extension and is compatible with any device that supports PDF, which includes, by far, most devices.
XML Paper Specification: Microsoft designed the XPS format, which is similar to PDF in terms of usability but is compiled using XML. This format is compatible with Microsoft Reader in Windows 8 and the Microsoft XPS Document Writer that you see in Print dialog boxes throughout Windows 7 and Windows 8.
When exporting a section or page, you also have the following choices:
OneNote 2010–2013 Section: Using the .one file extension, this format is the latest version of the OneNote file format.
OneNote 2007 Section: While this format also uses the .one extension, it supports a more limited feature set than the OneNote 2010–2013 format.
Word Document: Supporting the Word format used in 2007–2013, this format uses the .docx format.
Word 97–2003 Document: This older format, utilizing the .doc extension, supports older versions of Word.
Single File web Page: This format uses the MIME HTML document format .mht (abbreviated version of .mhtml), which saves an entire web page in a single file.
If you chose, for example, to save the current notebook and realize as the Save As window appears that you want to save the currently selected section or pages instead, you can do so from the appropriate radio button in the Page Range section below the Save As Type drop-down list.
Click or tap Save to export the file.
