How to Enter Symbols, Foreign Characters, Quote Marks, and Dashes into PowerPoint 2007 Slides

If you need to enter an umlaut, grave accent, or cedilla on a PowerPoint slide, PowerPoint has Symbol dialog box. PowerPoint’s Symbol dialog box has a copyright symbol and an eight ball, and tons of foreign language characters. Click in your slide where you want to enter a symbol or foreign character and follow these steps to enter it:

1

Click the Insert tab.

You can insert all kinds of things.

2

Click the Symbol button.

The Symbol dialog box opens. To enter a foreign character, select it and click the Insert button.

3

To insert a symbol, not a foreign character, choose Webdings or Wingdings 1, 2, or 3 on the Font drop-down list.

Webdings and the Wingdings fonts offer all kinds of weird and whacky symbols.

4

Select a foreign character or symbol.

You may have to scroll to find the one you want.

5

Click the Insert button to enter the symbol and click Close to close the dialog box.

The symbol appears on the slide.
