How to Edit Facebook Photos

Facebook is the number one photo sharing site on the web. Being so, the great people at Facebook offer several options for individual photos to make your photo-sharing experience all that you want it to be.

For all these possible photo edits, look at the photo you want to edit in the photo viewer.

How to add a tag to an individual photo

If you skipped adding tags earlier, you can always add your tags to individual photos.

  1. Hover your mouse over a friend’s face.

    The tagging box appears.

  2. Enter the name of the person you want to tag in the text box.

Facebook tries to autocomplete your friend’s name as you type.

  3. Repeat Steps 1 and 2 until everyone in the photo is tagged.

Or stop after you tag a few people. You can always come back to this later.

How to rotate a photo

Lots of times, photos wind up being sideways. It’s a result of turning your camera to take a vertical shot as opposed to a horizontal one. You don’t have to settle for this:

  1. Click Options at the bottom of the photo viewer.

This opens a menu of options related to that photo. Remember, you won’t see this text until your mouse hovers over the photo.

  2. Click Rotate Left or Rotate Right from the menu.

You may have to click it more than once to actually get it properly oriented.

How to add or change a description for an individual photo

Just like you can add a description to the album as a whole, you can add descriptions or captions to individual photos:

  1. Click the Edit button on the right side of the photo viewer.

A text box appears where you can edit the description.

  2. Enter your description in the text box.

  3. (Optional) Add any tags you want about who was with you when the photo was taken.

  4. (Optional) Add location information about where this photo was taken.

Facebook tries to autocomplete your location information as you type.

  5. When you’re finished, click Done Editing.

How to delete a photo

Maybe you realized that all 20 group shots from the high school reunion don’t have to go in the album, or that one photo has a whole bunch of crossed eyes. You can remove photos entirely from Facebook:

  1. Click the Options link at the bottom of the photo viewer.

    A menu of options appears.

  2. Click Delete This Photo.

A pop-up window appears asking if you are sure.

  3. Click Confirm.

You’re taken back to the album view, now with one less photo.
