How to Create an Internet Hyperlink in Word 2007

Step 4 of 8

In the Display window that opens, click the AutoCorrect Options button (upper right.)

This opens the AutoCorrect dialog box, where you can tweak what Word 2007 automatically corrects and formats.

I do all this and instead of an email address in blue underlined as typical hyperlinks look I get the following: {HYPERLINK "mailto:abcd@xyz.com"} There is no link, clicking on this takes you no where.

@Don: It looks like you have the field codes showing. The solution is simple: Click the MS Office button and then click Word Options at the bottom. Go to the Advanced section on the left, and then scroll down until you see the "Show document content" section. You need to uncheck the option called "Show field codes instead of their values" and then click OK. That should fix things.

When I create hyperlinks, it is automatically linking to the document on my computer, not in the web. When I manually type it in and hit ok, it changes it back to the folder on my computer.
