How to Create Albums in iPhoto in iLife ’11
In iPhoto, a photo album is simply a way of organizing photos and placing them in a proper sequence. You select photos from your iLife photo library and arrange them in the order you want for slideshows or other projects, such as calendars or books. To create a new photo album, click the Create button on the right side of the toolbar and then choose Album from the pop-up menu, or choose File→New→Album (or press Command+N).
The new album appears in the Albums section of the Source pane as untitled album; click inside the title and type a new, descriptive title.
You can organize your albums into folders in the Albums section of the Source pane. First, choose File→New→Folder to create an empty folder. Then retitle the folder.
You can start with a full album by selecting one or more pictures first. Browse your library and select one or more picture thumbnails. Click the Create button on the right side of the toolbar and then select Album from the pop-up menu, or choose File→New→Album. The newly created album contains the picture or pictures you selected.
Another way to add pictures to an album is to select one or more picture thumbnails, click the Add button on the right side of the toolbar, and then select Album from the pop-up menu. You can then scroll the pop-up menu of album tiles and select the album (or click the New Album tile to start a new album).
You can also create an album by dragging a folder of pictures from the Finder into the iPhoto Albums section of the Source pane. iPhoto creates an album with the folder’s name and imports all pictures contained in the folder. Using the Finder, you can add a picture to an album directly from a CD or from another location on your hard drive.
