How to Choose What to Print in PowerPoint 2007

In a PowerPoint presentation, you might want to print notes, and handouts in addition to our PowerPoint slides. PowerPoint’s Print dialog box has a Print What drop-down list that enables you to select the type of output that you want to print. The following choices are available:

  • Slides: Prints slides

  • Notes Pages: Prints speaker notes pages.

  • Handouts (With Slides per Page): Prints audience handout pages. Select the number of slides that you want to appear on each handout page by clicking the Slides per Page drop-down list (to the right of the Print What drop-down list). You can also order the slides to appear horizontally or vertically on the handout. To print handouts with two, three, or six slides per page, PowerPoint must shrink the slides to make them fit. Because slides usually have outrageously large type, the handout slides are normally still readable, even at their reduced size.

  • Outline View: Prints an outline of your presentation.

Select the type of output that you want to print, change the orientation of your printed output from Landscape to Portrait mode (or vice versa), use the Slide Orientation button in the Page Setup group of the Design tab on the Ribbon to choose between Landscape and Portrait orientation.
