How to Change Your Facebook Profile Picture

Your Facebook Profile photo is a small photo that sticks with you all around Facebook, appearing wherever you comment or post something. For example, your friends may see your status post in their News Feeds, accompanied by your name and Profile photo. Most people use some variation on a headshot for their profile photos. To change your profile photo, follow these steps:

  1. Hover over your existing Profile photo.

The Edit Profile Picture button appears.

  2. Click the Edit Profile Picture button.

This opens the Profile Picture menu, which has five options: Choose from Photos, Take Photo (only for people with a webcam), Upload Photo, Edit Thumbnail, and Remove.

  3. To choose from the photos of you on Facebook, click Choose from Photos.

This opens the Choose from Photos window, which by default shows you all the photos in which you are tagged in Facebook. Page through these photos by clicking the arrows in the bottom-right corner. You can also get to the photos you’ve added to Facebook by clicking View Albums in the upper-right corner.
