How to Change a PowerPoint 2007 Object’s Size

Usually when you place a PowerPoint object on a slide, you have to change its size (and sometimes its proportions as well). PowerPoint lets you set Height and Width measurements or drag a selection handle to resize an object.

Selection handles appear on the sides and corners of objects after you select them. You drag a selection handle to change an object’s size and perhaps its proportions as well. To make the object larger or smaller but maintain its proportions, hold down the Shift key as you drag the selected object. You can stretch or crimp an object and change its proportions. Hold down the Ctrl key as you drag the selected object to change it from both sides.

You can also enter exact measurements in the Size and Position dialog box.

Click the Size group button.

The Size and Position dialog box opens. Use one of these techniques to enter measurements in the Height and Width boxes:

Click the up or down-arrow button.

You can increase or decrease the object’s size by a tenth of an inch.

Enter a measurement into a box and press Enter.

Your new size takes effect!

Click the Reset button at the bottom of the Size and Position dialog box to return a picture or clip-art image to its original size.

Tip: If your PowerPoint objects aren’t maintaining their proportions when you change their size, hold down the Shift key as you drag a selection handle or click the Size group button to open the Size and Position dialog box and select the Lock Aspect Ratio check box.
