How to Buy and Rent Movies on Your Android Tablet

The Google Play Store lets you not only buy apps and books for your Android tablet but also rent movies. Open the Play Movies app, found in the Apps drawer, to boost your tablet’s video potential.

Renting or purchasing a movie is done at the Google Play Store. Choose a movie or TV show to rent or buy. Touch the price button, and then choose your method of payment. The process works just like getting an app for your tablet.

Movies and shows rented at the Play Store are available for viewing for up to 30 days after you pay the rental fee. After you start the movie, you can pause and watch it again and again during a 24-hour period.

  • Not every film or TV show is available for purchase. Some are rentals only.

  • You can use the Personal Videos category in the Play Movies app to view any videos stored on your Android tablet.

  • One of the best ways to view movies on your Android tablet is to connect it to an HDMI monitor or TV set. That way, you get the big-screen experience and can share the movie with several friends without having to crowd around the tablet. This trick works when your tablet features an HDMI connection and you’ve purchased the appropriate HDMI cable

If your tablet doesn't have an HDMI connection, you might be able to add one by plugging into a docking stand with HDMI output.
