How to Battle Brain Fog at Work
If you're experiencing symptoms of brain fog at work, including memory problems, confusion, depression, and/or an inability to concentrate, you likely have adrenal fatigue. Your adrenal fatigue is likely at a moderate stage, but you still need to be further evaluated and take steps to prevent your symptoms from worsening. In the meantime, here are some things you can do to help manage brain fog at work:
Eat veggies, complex carbs, and protein. If you have symptoms that suggest brain fog, avoid eating carbs, especially simple carbs like white bread and sugar, at work. They only make the symptoms worse.
If anything, change your diet to include more vegetables (ones that have an alkaline bent, like broccoli and kale). In fact, you can save a buck by bringing cucumber spears and carrot sticks from home. Also be sure that you're consuming an adequate amount of protein (like chicken or fish).
When the coffee cart or lunch truck comes around, avoid powdery doughnuts, sugary soft drinks, and other cheap thrills if you can. Skip excess caffeine and alcoholic beverages, too, because they only make brain fog worse.
Go outside. Be sure you build up your store of vitamin D. It's free, because you get it just by going outside. Get some sun; 20 minutes in the middle of the day can provide enough vitamin D to prevent deficiency of this important vitamin. In the winter, you'll likely need to take a vitamin D supplement.
Pay attention to the eliminators. In addition to the adrenal glands, two organs you want to pay attention to if brain fog is present are the liver and the kidneys. The liver is responsible for processing toxins, medications, and food that you eat; the kidneys are responsible for eliminating them from the body.
Optimizing liver and kidney function is crucial. Drink mineralized water with an alkaline pH to flush the toxins out of the body and keep the kidneys in good shape. Eating foods that promote healthy intestinal flora can help decrease the workload of the liver; yogurt is a great option.
Normalize your morning pH. If you're suffering from brain fog, normalizing your morning urine pH is extremely important. If a urine pH test strip shows your pH is low in the morning — below 6.5 — take an alkaline-based drink like alkaline water with a squeeze of lemon added to it.
