How to Add Photos to Your iPhone Contacts

The first thing you see on the New Contact screen is a field in the upper left corner called Add Photo. This lets you add a photo of the contact and when a call comes in from any of the phone numbers of that contact, the photo appears on your Home screen.

Choose one of these ways to add photos to your iPhone Contacts:

  • From Social Networks: If you give Facebook, Twitter, or one of the other social networks access to contacts, the profile photo for your contact is automatically added to the contact info.

  • Tap Add Photo: A dialog appears, which gives you the option to take a photo or choose an existing photo.

    Take a photo

    1. Tap Take Photo

      The Camera app opens.

    2. Aim the camera at the subject you want to photograph; when you're satisfied, tap the white camera button.

If you see yourself instead of your subject, tap the Switch Camera button.

If you like the shot, you can resize it by pinching or spreading your fingers on the image and drag to move it to a pleasing position.

If it's just not right, tap Retake, and try again.

    3. When you like the result, tap Use Photo.

You see the photo you took in the photo field on the Contact Info screen.

    Choose an existing photo

    1. Tap Choose Photo.

      The Photos app opens.

    2. Tap the album where the photo you want to use is stored.

    3. Tap the photo you want to use.

If you like the shot, you can resize it by pinching or spreading your fingers on the image and drag to move it to a pleasing position.

    4. When you like the photo, tap Choose.

The photo is saved to the New Contact screen.

The data in Contacts in the Phone app is the same data as in the Contacts app — just two ways to reach the same information.
