How to Add Another User to Your Nexus 7 Tablet

The best solution for two people wanting to use a single Nexus 7 tablet is to buy another tablet. When that trick doesn’t work, you can add another user account to the tablet. That means each person has their own personal settings, icon arrangements, e-mail, favorites, and so on.

To add a new account, obey these directions:

  1. Open the Settings app and choose Users.

You see the Users screen, which lists all user accounts on the Nexus 7.

  2. Choose Add User or Profile.

  3. Choose User to add another account or choose Restricted Profile to add a small child or rebellious spouse.

  4. Touch the OK button.

  5. Choose Not Now.

The other user can sign in and set up an account later.

To sign in as another user, choose that account from the bottom of the lock screen. That’s it.

  • You can also switch accounts by choosing the User item from the Quick Actions shade.

  • You should apply a strong lock (Pattern, PIN, or Password) when multiple users have access to a single tablet.

  • To set an account picture, open the Settings app and choose Users. Choose your account from the list, touch the photo icon, and choose a command to take a photo or select one from the Gallery.

  • Remove an account from the Users screen: Touch the Trash icon to the right of the account name. Touch the Delete button to confirm.

  • Choose a Restricted Profile account from the Users screen to choose which apps that user can run.

  • The first account on the tablet is the master account. It cannot be removed.
