How to Add and Remove Your Laptop to and from a Network

10 of 14 in Series: The Essentials of Networking with Your Laptop with Windows Vista

Adding and removing your laptop to and from a network is probably the easiest part of using a network.

After the network connection has been made and everything is set up, you can connect your laptop to the network by simply plugging in the network cable. There’s no need to turn off the laptop or restart Windows. Plugging in the cable causes the network to be recognized instantly. You're in!

Similarly, when you need to disconnect from the network, simply unplug the network cable. The networking hardware and software recognize that the cable is no longer there and that the network is no longer accessible. No problem.
