How to Add a Picture to Your New Facebook Group

After you set up your new Facebook group, you become the group administrator. So you get to choose a single picture to appear prominently at the top of your new group’s Home page. If you don’t choose a photo, a question mark is displayed.

To specify a picture for your new Facebook group, follow these steps:

  1. Click the Browse button.

This opens your computer’s standard interface for finding a file.

Add a picture to represent your new group.
Add a picture to represent your new group.
  2. Navigate to and select the picture on your computer that you wish to use.

The picture you choose must meet the file size and type requirements outlined on the page. If you’re not sure whether your desired picture meets the requirements, select the picture and continue with these steps. Facebook notifies you if the picture you choose can’t be used.

  3. Select the check box to certify that you have the right to distribute the picture.

You can’t use material that is copyrighted or that violates the Facebook terms of use. (For example it can’t be pornographic or otherwise offensive.)

  4. Click Upload Picture.

Then complete any other information on the page and then click Save.

If you don’t want to choose a picture for your group just yet, click Skip. You can always return to this step later to add a picture (or to change it if you do select one now).
