Hide and Delete Objects with GeoMaster on the TI-84 Plus
There is a big difference between hiding and deleting an object in GeoMaster on the TI-84 Plus graphing calculator. If you hide an object, you can, if you so choose, bring it back in view at a later time. But if you delete an object, it is gone for good.
Hide an object in GeoMaster
The first image shown provides an example of when you may want to hide an object. Because GeoMaster has no tool that instantly creates a tangent to a circle, the tangents in this picture were created by first constructing radii, and then constructing lines perpendicular to these radii.
If all you really want to see is the circle and tangents, you can hide the radii, as shown in the third image. If you were to delete the radii, the tangents would also be deleted because they were constructed perpendicular to the radii, and are thus dependent on the existence of the radii.
To hide one or more objects, follow these steps:
to select the Hide/Show tool from the MISC menu.
The name Hide/Show appears in the upper-right corner of the screen and any previously hidden objects appear on the screen as dashed lines. This is illustrated in the second image, where the triangle is a previously hidden object. For now, ignore any previously hidden objects. They will be hidden again in Step 3.
Use the arrow keys to move the cursor to the first object you want to hide and press [ENTER]. Move the cursor to the second object you want to hide and press [ENTER]. Continue selecting objects to hide by placing the cursor on the object and pressing [ENTER].
The selected objects appear as dashed lines.
Press [CLEAR] to hide the objects selected in Step 2 and to again hide any previously hidden objects.
This is illustrated in the third image, where the selected radii and the previously hidden triangle are all hidden.
Redisplay hidden objects in GeoMaster
To redisplay hidden objects, press
to select the Hide/Show tool from the MISC menu. All previously hidden objects appear on the screen. For each object that you no longer want to hide, place the cursor on that object and press [ENTER]. Then press [CLEAR]. The objects that you did not select to bring out of hiding are again hidden, and the objects you did select to show remain on the screen.
Delete objects in GeoMaster
GeoMaster has no undo feature. So if you delete an object, it’s gone for good. Also, if you delete an object, then all other objects whose construction is dependent on the deleted object will also be deleted.
To delete an object, press [CLEAR] to ensure that no tools are active. Use the arrow keys to move the cursor to the object and press [ENTER] to select that object. The object appears as a dashed line. Press [DEL] to delete the object.
