March 25, 2010. With a vote of 56 to 43, the Senate has passed healthcare reconciliation and is sending the bill back to the House for a final vote. No additional changes to the healthcare reform fixes bill were made since the Senate Parliamentarian ruled two provisions dealing with Pell grant funding had to be removed.
House Democrats, who hold the majority, have described these changes as minor. They expect the House will pass reconciliation once again. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi hopes to have the House vote on the bill yet today.
