For Seniors: Turn on InPrivate Browsing in Internet Explorer
InPrivate Browsing is a feature that stops Internet Explorer from saving information about your browsing session. Turn on InPrivate Browsing in IE, for example, to prevent a website from saving a cookie on your laptop.
Cookies allow websites to identify you, sometimes for innocent reasons (such as displaying your preferred news items). Cookies might be used, however, to collect information you don’t want to saved, such as your name and address, or passwords. InPrivate Browsing can also prevent IE from saving your browsing history.
Open Internet Explorer.
Internet Explorer displays your Home page.
Click the Tools button on the toolbar and choose Safety→InPrivate Browsing.
A new browser window appears.
Browse the Internet using this new window.
Notice that the word, InPrivate, appears to the left of the browser window. As long as you see it, you are browsing in private. If you browse to a site IE considers dangerous, InPrivate Browsing will offer you the option of blocking access to the site.
The browsing privacy protection lasts only as long as you are using the window that InPrivate Browsing opened (though you can open any number of tabs in that window and still be protected).
If you don’t want to use InPrivate Browsing but would like to clear your browsing history manually from time to time, with IE open you can press Ctrl+Shift+Delete to do so.
