For Seniors: Read Your Windows Live Hotmail
Windows Live Hotmail appears in your Inbox regularly, where you can view and reply to it. Hotmail e-mail is similar to other online e-mail services, in that you can access it from any Internet computer. Hotmail messages resides online-and not on your computer.
Display the Windows Live home page, sign into your account, and click the Hotmail link to go to the Hotmail portion of Windows Live.
Enter your new Windows Live ID and password, and then click the Sign In button. The Windows Live Home page appears. Click the Hotmail link at the top of the page, and your Inbox appears.
Click a folder on the left to view its message list.
Some typical folders include your Inbox, where most incoming mail appears; Outbox (outgoing messages), Drafts (drafts of saved e-mails you're not ready to send); and your Sent folder, where copies of e-mails you've sent to other people are stored. When you click a folder, the messages in that folder are listed on the right.
Click a message to view its contents.
Unread messages appear in bold type and sport a small closed-envelope icon; those with attachments have a paperclip icon as well. When you click a message, its contents appears on the left.
If an e-mail has a little exclamation point next to it in your Inbox, somebody has flagged it as urgent. It’s usually best to check out those e-mails first.
To filter messages, click any of the buttons above the message list, such as Contacts (to display only messages from people in your Contacts list), Unread (to display messages you haven’t yet opened), and so on. To sort messages, click Arrange and choose an option such as From (to sort messages by sender) or Size (to sort messages by the size of their attachments).
