For Seniors: Rate, Share, and Mark YouTube Videos on iPad

Using the YouTube app on iPad 2, you can rate YouTube videos, indicating whether you liked or disliked them. iPad also lets you share and mark favorite YouTube videos. For example, you might want to flag good YouTube videos to encourage others to watch them too, or e-mail a link so your friends can watch a video you enjoyed.

You can also mark particular favorite videos so you can find them easily, without having to search YouTube for them.

Rate YouTube videos on iPad 2

After you watch a video on YouTube that you especially like or dislike, you can rate it in order to let others know what you thought.

You need a YouTube account with a user name and password in order to rate videos.

  1. With a video open in the YouTube application in the smallest view, tap in the black area near the top of the screen.

  2. Tap the Like or Dislike button.

    You're prompted to log into your YouTube account.

  3. Sign in to your YouTube account with your username and password.

    After you sign in, the Like or Dislike rating is accepted.

You can view the highest-rated videos on YouTube by tapping the Top Rated button at the bottom of the screen.

Share YouTube videos on iPad 2

  1. With a video open in the YouTube application in the smallest view, tap in the black area near the top of the screen.

  2. Tap the Share button.

    A message form appears.

  3. Enter a recipient in the To field and add to the message, if you like.

    The Subject is the name of the video you selected.

  4. Tap the Send button to send a link to the video.

Mark YouTube videos as favorites on iPad 2

  1. With a video open in the YouTube application in the smallest view, tap in the black area near the top of the screen.

  2. Tap the Add button.

    A menu appears.

  3. Tap Favorites.

    The video is added to your list of YouTube favorites. To view your favorite movies, tap the Favorites button at the bottom of the YouTube screen. Your favorite videos are displayed. Tap one to play it.

To delete a favorite while on the Favorites screen, tap the Edit button. Delete buttons appear on each movie. Tap the movie-specific Delete button to remove that movie. Tap the Done button to leave Editing mode.
