For Seniors: Import Photos to iPad 2

You can import photos to your iPad 2 from an iPhone, digital camera, computer, or the Internet. After photos are imported to the iPad, you can view, print, and e-mail them. You can also shoot photos using the iPad's cameras. The iPad supports most common photo formats, such as JPEG, TIFF, and PNG.

To import photos to the iPad from your computer, simply synch it using iTunes. You can also import data from your digital camera or SC card, or copy images from the Internet.

Import data from a digital camera or SD card to your iPad

To import photos from a digital camera or an iPhone, you need the iPad Camera Connection Kit from Apple. The kit contains two adapters — a USB Camera Connector to import photos from a digital camera or iPhone, and an SD Card Reader to import from an SD card.

  1. Before connecting either adapter, put your iPad to sleep.

  2. Connect the appropriate adapter to the iPad.

To import photos directly from a digital camera or iPhone, insert the USB Camera Connector into the Dock connector slot of your iPad. Connect the USB end of the cord that came with your digital camera or iPhone into the USB Camera Connector, then connect the other end of the cord to your camera or iPhone.

To import photos stored on an SD card, insert the SD Card Reader into the iPad, then insert the SD card containing the photos.

  3. Wake your iPad.

The Photos app opens and displays the photos on the digital camera or iPhone.

  4. Tap Import All or tap individual photos to tag them and then tap Import.

Depending on the option you selected, all or only individual photos are imported and saved to the Last Import album.

  5. Disconnect the cord and the adapter.

You’re done. You can view, print, or e-mail the photos.

Save a photo from the Internet to your iPad
