For Seniors: Create a Social Network Profile
When you join a social networking site such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, or Eons, you create a profile using your personal information. Some profile information is required by the social network, while other profile information is not.
When entering your profile information during signup, make sure you clearly understand why a social network needs any of your personally identifiable information and how they may use that information — before providing it. You enter profile information for most social networks in a similar way, so to guide you through the process, here are steps you would follow to sign up for Eons, a senior social networking site.
Visit the Eons Home page and log into your account.
Click the Log In link, and enter your screen name or e-mail address and password.
Click the arrow on the Profile tab and then choose About from the drop-down list.
Your profile information appears.
Click the Relationship tab to modify that portion of your profile.
Enter the relationship information you wish to share.
Click Save Changes at the bottom of the page to save any changes.
Change to a different tab and continue this process to complete your profile. Be sure to click Save Changes at the bottom of each page to save the changes you make.
Accepting a social networking service's default settings may expose more information than you intend. Be sure to review a service's Privacy settings after signing up and creating a profile. A social network's Privacy settings control what parts of your profile others can see.
