For Seniors: Access a Laptop's Frequently Used Programs
Programs you use often on your laptop can be pinned to the Frequently Used Programs area on the Windows 7 taskbar. After you add frequently used programs to the taskbar, you'll be just one click away from starting any program you use a lot.
Windows automatically places icons on the taskbar for programs it thinks you may want to use frequently, but you can add additional programs to the Frequently Used Programs area of the taskbar as well.
Click an icon in the Frequently Used Programs area of the taskbar.
Initially, this area may include icons for programs such as Internet Explorer and Windows Media Player, or a shortcut to open Windows Explorer. After you click one of these icons, the window for that program opens.
To close a program you’ve opened, click the Close button in the top-right corner of the window (the button with an X on it).
The program closes.
To add additional items to the Frequently Used Programs area, right-click that application and choose Pin to Taskbar.
You can right-click a program's listing in the Start menu, or its icon on the desktop to display a shortcut menu with the Pin to Taskbar command. You can also drag a desktop icon to the Frequently Used Programs area on the taskbar and drop it.
You can add other functions to the taskbar. Right-click a blank area of the taskbar and choose Properties. Click the Toolbars tab to display it. Click the check box for any of the additional items listed there, such as a browser Address bar, or Links.
