Five Tips for Using the Windows 8 Start Screen

The Windows 8 Start screen is a dynamic and ever-changing feature of the Windows 8 environment. You will need it to access your user account, to add or view apps, or to share cool websites with friends. As you start working with Windows 8, keep the following tips in mind.

How to add a photo

To add a photo to your user account, click or touch your username in the Start screen’s corner and choose Change Account Picture.

Start screen changes and updates

Your Start screen will change as you add more programs and apps to your computer.

How to share a website

Now you can easily share any website with your friends. When you’re gazing at a website you want a friend to see, open the Charms bar, choose Share, and choose the friend who should see it.

Windows apps for Windows 8

Only Windows apps can run on Windows. Seems logical, but many will try to push this boundary!

Organize those apps

Windows 8 will help you keep your apps organized just the way you like them. To keep things organized, drag and drop the tiles for new apps into your existing groups or make new groups for the new tiles.
