Enhancing Your Drupal Ubercart Store

When you installed all the Ubercart and related modules, you added in lots of functionality you haven't yet turned on for your Drupal store. Here is a quick look at the best of the other parts of Ubercart you haven't yet seen.

Using the fulfillment modules

Not only does Ubercart manage the products, catalog, shopping cart, and order forms for you, but it also has the capability to handle shipping cost calculations. To use the fulfillment modules, follow these steps:

  1. Click Modules on the Dashboard menu bar.

  2. Under the Ubercart – Core (optional) section, select the Shipping Quotes check box.

  3. Under the Ubercart – Fulfillment section, select all four check boxes.

  4. Click Save Configuration.

  5. Choose Store→Shipping Quote Settings.

  6. Click the Quote Methods tab, and then the General settings link.

  7. Select the Enable check box(es) for the shipping type(s) you use.

Depending on which type you choose, clicking the appropriate link can give you more options for providing account information.

  8. Click Save Configuration.

Taxing your customers

It's not a fun thing to think about, but it's necessary for many online merchants to collect tax on the goods they sell. Three modules can help. Follow these steps:

  1. Click Modules on the Dashboard menu bar.

  2. Under the Ubercart – Core (optional) section, select the Reports, Tax Report, and Taxes check boxes.

  3. Click Save Configuration.

  4. Choose Store→Tax Rates and Settings.

  5. Click the Add a Tax Rate tab.

  6. Enter a name for the tax in the Name text box, and then enter the tax rate as a percent or decimal in the Rate text box.

The name you enter appears on the customer's checkout form.

  7. Click Save Configuration.

When you installed the Reports module, you gained access to a Sales Tax report, located at Store→Reports→Sales Tax Report. There are a number of other valuable reports in this same area of your site:

  • Customer reports: Presents the total orders, products, sales, and average order totals for each customer.

  • Product reports: Shows every product listed in the store, how many have sold, how many times it has been viewed, revenue, and gross profit.

  • Sales reports: Displays sale summaries for the last two days, average monthly sales, and projected sales.

  • Sales Tax report: A handy report that shows you the sales tax you’ve collected for a particular period.
