Addressing messages is one of the most productive drag-and-drop techniques in Outlook 2013. E-mail addresses can be cumbersome and difficult to remember, and if your spelling of an e-mail address is off by even one letter, your message won’t go through. It’s best to just keep the e-mail addresses of the people to whom you sent messages in your Contacts list and use those addresses to create new messages.

Click the People button in the Navigation bar (or press Ctrl+3).

The Contacts list appears. You can use any view, but Address Cards view is easiest; you can click the first letter of the person’s name to see that person’s card.

The Message form appears, with the address of the contact filled in.

Type a subject for your message.

Click in the text box and type your message.

You can also format text with bold type, italics, and other effects by clicking the appropriate buttons on the toolbar.

Click the Send button.
