Charging Your HP TouchPad's Battery
Like any new electronic device, your HP TouchPad may come out of the box with a little bit of battery power, but before you can do anything substantial, you'll need to charge the battery. Follow these steps to juice your TouchPad's battery:
-
Plug the larger end of the USB cable into the AC charger and then plug the AC charger into a wall socket.
-
Plug the smaller end of the USB cable into the TouchPad.
The charger cord plugs into the charger/microUSB connector, located on the bottom of the TouchPad. The connector plugs in only one way: with the silver circle on the cable facing the front of the TouchPad.
A microUSB connector has a flat, trapezoid shape, which makes it different from the miniUSB connector, which is squat and slightly larger.
-
Wait for the TouchPad to charge.
You can use the device while it’s charging.
-
Unplug the TouchPad when the battery icon is green, meaning that it’s fully charged.
Your TouchPad's battery icon changes colors to give you details about its battery life:
-
When the battery is very low (about 12%) the battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen changes to red.
-
When the battery is low (about 20%) the battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen changes to yellow.
-
When the battery is fully charged, the icon appears full and changes to green.
-
As an alternative to charging via the USB cable and AC charger, you can place your TouchPad on the HP Touchstone Charging Dock. Besides doubling as a convenient stand, the Touchstone gives you access to applications specifically designed for it via the TouchPad’s Exhibition mode.
The TouchPad also charges itself when it’s plugged into a computer, using either the USB cable that comes with the TouchPad or any microUSB cable attached to a computer. The computer must be on for charging to work. This method generally takes longer than the other methods.
