Changing SmartArt’s Quick Style in Word 2007

After you’ve created a SmartArt diagram in Word 2007, you can adjust its appearance in many ways. The easiest way is to change the Quick Style that’s applied to the diagram. A Quick Style is simply a collection of formatting elements, such as colors and shape effects, which are assigned to the parts of a SmartArt diagram.

Microsoft provides a large assortment of Quick Styles to choose from. For instance, the Quick Style gallery for Pyramid diagrams offers more than a dozen options.

1

Click the diagram to select it.

Word adds the SmartArt Tools tab to the Ribbon.

2

Select the style you want to use from the SmartArt Styles group.

The SmartArt Styles group displays icons of the most commonly used Quick Styles for the diagram type. If you don’t find the style you want to use in this group, you can click the More button (the down arrow to the bottom right of the Quick Style icons) to display a gallery of all available styles.

After you select a style, it’s applied immediately.
