Changing Drupal Forum and Container Organization

After you create your Drupal forums (and optionally, your containers), you can move forums from one container to another — or take them out of containers entirely. You have two ways you can change the container a forum is in. To do it the first way, follow these steps:

  1. From the Dashboard menu bar, choose Structure→Forums.

  2. Click the Edit link next to the forum or container you want to change.

  3. Change the Parent drop-down list to the new container or select <root> to leave the forum out of all containers.

  4. (Optional) Modify the name or description of this forum to be more appropriate for the new container.

  5. Click Save.

The second way of moving forums around is a bit easier — but it doesn't give you the chance to change the forum name or description. To use this method, follow these steps:

  1. From the Dashboard menu bar, choose Structure→Forums.

  2. Click the small cross icon to the left of the forum you want to change, and drag it under the new container.

  3. If you want to take the chosen forum out of all containers, drag it to the top of the list.

When you remove a container with forums in it, they don't get deleted. Instead, they end up located outside of any containers.
