Allowing Other Members to Download Music You've Posted on Ning

So you've posted music selections on Ning, and now others want you to share. If you trust the other Ning network members to do the right thing by copyrighted music, you can allow Music Player tracks to be downloaded — which may actually be perfect if you intend to use it as a means to distribute music or podcasts that you have the rights to:

  1. Log in to your Ning account.

    Your main Ning page appears.

  2. Click the Manage link in your network’s navigation bar.

    The Manage page opens.

  3. Click the Feature Controls link below the Your Members heading.

    The Feature Controls page appears.

  4. Select the check box next to Enable Music Player Download Links.

This option is deselected by default.

  5. Click the Save button.

    A confirmation message appears.

If you allow members to download music that you add to the Music Player, nothing prevents distribution of copyrighted music tracks among the members through your network other than their own restraint from uploading copyrighted content or, if they find it on your network, from downloading it. If you spot a song that you suspect to be material posted without permission from the copyright owner, you can (and should) delete it from your network.
