How to Drop a Marker on Your iPhone
Markers and pins are the same thing, but the iOS 11 version of Maps leans toward using markers as the default term. It’s a significant difference to note, in case you’ve used iOS devices in the past and have always referred to marked locations as pins and were wondering what all this marker business was all about.
- Display a map that contains a spot where you want to drop a marker to help you find directions to or from that site.
- If you need to, you can zoom in to a more detailed map to see a better view of the location you want to mark.
- Press and hold your finger on the screen at the location where you want to place the marker.
The marker appears, together with an information dialog.
- Swipe up on the information dialog to display details about the marker location.
If a location has associated reviews on sites, such as the restaurant and travel review site Yelp, you can display details about the location and scroll down to read the reviews.
