Windows 7 uses the Action Center to scan your system and tell whenever it thinks there is a problem. Unfortunately, experienced users might quickly tire of the annoying reminders. If you don’t want to have Windows 7 tell you what to do with your computer and when to do it, you can disable the Action Center entirely,

There are a lot of advantages to having Windows 7 alert you to problems with your system. You might end up with a serious problem and not realize it if you disable the Action Center. If you’re not an experienced user, think carefully before continuing with this process.

There are two different ways to disable the Windows 7 Action Center: The System Icons window of the Control Panel and the Change Action Center Settings window:

  • Open the Control Panel and switch to one of the icon views. Select the System Icons module (you might have to scroll down to find it). Locate the Action Center option and select Off on the drop down box to the right. Close the dialog box and the settings will take effect.

  • Open the Action Center and select Change Action Center Settings in the left pane. Deselect all the items and click OK. The Action Center will no longer to have any problems to report.
