  2. In the registration area below the list of topics, provide the requested information. Be sure to provide your complete e-mail address (yourname@yourdomain.com).
  3. You can receive your Dummies eTips as standard text e-mail (the usual kind) or as an HTML-formatted message (which looks cool but is available only if your e-mail program can deal with it). Where you are asked, click to choose the option that works for you.

What if I change my e-mail address?

If you change your e-mail address, log in and unsubscribe from Dummies eTips using your old e-mail account and then resubscribe using your new e-mail address.

What's the difference between standard text e-mail and an HTML-formatted message?

Standard text e-mail contains nothing fancier than text and text-based links — it's the sort of basic e-mail most people are accustomed to receiving. An HTML-formatted message, by contrast, can contain (in addition to text and text-based links) all kinds of images, colors, and other cool stuff. Not everyone can receive HTML-formatted messages, however. Check with your Internet service provider to find out if your e-mail system and software can handle HTML before you choose the HTML-formatted option.

Are the eTips really free?

Yes! Your eTip deliveries will land in your inbox at absolutely no cost to you! Subscribers pay no fees or charges.

When will I start receiving eTips?

After you subscribe to one or more Dummies eTip topics, your first eTip deliveries should arrive the following week.

My e-mail is appearing in a weird format I can't read. What is it?

You're probably receiving HTML-formatted messages, and your e-mail system probably isn't set up for that. You can easily change to standard text e-mail. Start at the Edit Your Subscription page and follow these steps:

  1. Type your e-mail address into the box where it is requested.
  2. Click the Send button at the bottom of the page. A subscription management page will appear. All of the Dummies eTip topics that you currently subscribe to will already be checked.
  3. To change the format to standard e-mail, click in the circle next to that option. A check mark will appear.
  4. Now click the Send button. A page will appear to verify the changes you've made.
  5. Look in your e-mail inbox. A message will verify your choice.

I'm going on vacation. How can I turn off my tips for a while?

If you'd prefer not to receive tips while you're gone, simply unsubscribe from all of your Dummies eTip topics. When you return, resubscribe.

I'm not getting my eTips. Why is this happening? What can I do about it?

eTip slips can occur (not because we want them to). Internet mail bounces for one reason or another, or your e-mail box might be full (perhaps without your even knowing it!), or your Internet service provider may be experiencing technical difficulties. If you've checked into all of those possibilities and don't see a solution, contact our support team for more help.
