Do you know other newish mothers at work or in your neighborhood who want to work out? Consider starting a mothers' exercise club in your area. The club can work in three ways:
- You all work out together, and you all bring your babies with you in slings, packs, or running strollers. This is generally a walking club and can tend to have more of an emphasis on socializing than on getting an intense workout, which may be perfect for you.
- You hire one or more sitters to watch the children of all the club members, and then you all head out for a workout together, whether it's a walk, run, bike ride, swim, class, or other routine. Or, the sitter stays in one part of one club member's house, while club members work out in another area of the house.
- You take turns watching each others' kids, swapping babysitting times. If you have three or four members, and each one takes two days off of exercise to watch the kids, everyone in the club gets two days of babysitting and five days of great exercise with club members.
Before starting your own club, check to see whether one exists in your area by searching Google, Yahoo!, or some other Internet search engine for terms such as mother's walking club or mother's exercise club, followed by the name of your city or other area.
