Midlife is a great opportunity to discover life's possibilities beyond sexual reproduction and rearing children. Regular yoga practice can buffer the unpleasant physiological side effects of the male version of menopause. Yoga also can stabilize the emotions that are triggered when you realize that you are no longer quite so dashing unless, of course, you have practiced yoga all along. However, sooner or later middle age and old age catch up with everybody. The best idea is to prepare emotionally long before you realize how quickly the years are rolling past, by keeping the larger perspective in mind: Human life is not merely for reproduction, but also for moral, intellectual, and spiritual growth.
