GRE Quantitative Comparisons: Respond ASAP
Adapted From: CliffsTestPrep GRE General Test, 7th Edition

The quantitative comparison section of the GRE emphasizes shortcuts, insight, and quick techniques. Long and/or involved mathematical computation is unnecessary and is contrary to the purpose of this section. If the problem takes too long, you're probably doing it wrong.

Sample Quantitative Comparison Question:

Column A: 20 x 35 x 50

Column B: 50 x 36 x 20

Directions: Choose (A) if column A is greater, (B) if column B is greater, (C) if they're equal, or (D) if not enough information is given.

Before doing all the work, look for a quick method. In this case, cancel 20 and 50 from each column and you are simply comparing 35 and 36. The correct answer is (B).
