MacOS X For Dummies , 2nd Edition
Fun with Key Caps
Adapted From: MacOS X For Dummies , 2nd Edition

Ever wonder what keys to use to make a trademark symbol, a bullet, or a Greek beta character? Use Key Caps, found in your Utilities folder in the Applications folder, to discover how. You can also use Key Caps to see what characters are available in the Symbol font, which is a special typeface with characters that aren't letters and numbers but dingbats (a.k.a. special printing symbols).

When you launch Key Caps, you see a standard keyboard on your screen. Just hold down the Option key, Command key, and so on — or any combination — to see what special characters you can make. You can also use the Font menu to see what special characters are available in other fonts, such as Symbol or Zapf Dingbats.
