So you've been practicing your piano skills every day, and you think you're ready to let other people (other than your immediate family) hear you play. There is any number of ways to perform piano in public; however, you may want to try playing in an ensemble or a band before striking out on your own.
Many ensembles require a pianist. In the world of classical music, a piano trio features a piano and two other instruments typically a violin and a cello. In the world of jazz, a quartet may include a piano, drums, bass, and saxophone. In a rock band, you'll have piano or keyboard, drums, bass, guitar, and a vocalist. Find friends who need a third or fourth wheel and climb on board.
Virtually every major composer has written specifically for trios, quartets, and other sized ensembles, so the repertoire of pieces you and your friends can play is endless.
