Essay Assessment: Write or Wrong?

The Internet abounds with opportunities to lay down a little cash and line up a ready-made essay to satisfy a class assignment. Although the cyber resources exist, the risk isn't worth the potential result. At the least, you'll get caught red-handed with a ripped-off report. More importantly, you'll call your character into question (and, hopefully, feel appropriate pangs of guilt over your indiscretion). If you're inclined to shortcut the system, remember these two facts of life:

  • Instructors know the score. And yours is likely to hit pay dirt if you think your deception will go unnoticed.
  • Education is about researching and retaining information. You may learn a lesson about doing the wrong thing (and the penalties earned), but you'll cheat yourself out of the rewards of doing your own homework — discovery, discipline, and a well-deserved good grade.
